Our Team

Heather has a degree in Early Childhood Education and holds two Montessori Teaching Diplomas, one for children birth to three years and the other for ages three to six. She joined our teaching team in 1997 and has been the Executive Director for 22 years. Over the years, she has overseen the development and expansion of our programs including the successful Pre-Primary program. Heather shares her passion for teaching young children by leading our dedicated team of teachers and staff. Heather is married and has three children, all of whom are HCS alumni. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Bianca received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Albright College. Prior to joining our team in 2021, Bianca had been an HCS parent for the past 7 years and has served as the President of the Board of Directors for more than 3 years. She has worked in various supervisory and technological roles for more than 10 years. She has 3 children, all of whom attended Hagerstown Children’s School. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her children, traveling, and Penn State football.

Katie has a Bachelor's in Psychology from Virginia Tech, a Masters in Elementary Education from Frostburg State University and two Montessori Teaching Diplomas. She has over 10 years of experience working with children in different settings including child care and education. She is married and has 2 daughters. Her hobbies include hiking and traveling with her family. Katie has always had a love for the Montessori philosophy and incorporates her experiences and knowledge to create an engaging classroom environment.

Kaelin holds a Child Development Associates Credential (CDA) and a Montessori Teaching Diploma. She joined our team in 2008 and is a lead teacher in one of our Primary classrooms. She has a passion for sharing her love of learning with the children that attend HCS. Kaelin is married and has two children, both who are HCS alumni. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at the beach, with her family, and reading.

Angela received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Kutztown University and has received her Montessori Teaching Diploma. She joined our teaching team after her three daughters had incredibly positive first school experiences in our Primary classrooms and has worked with us for more than 10 years. Angela is enthusiastic about working with children and brings her zest for life into the classroom. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters, and two dogs.

Ms. Angela's love and enthusiasm for learning shows in her teaching style and captivates the children's attention. She has over 20 years of experience, graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in Teaching and a Montessori Teaching Diploma. In her spare time, Angela enjoys traveling and exploring new places with her 3 children.

Allie has studied Early Childhood Education, has received a Montessori Teaching Diploma, and has encouraged an enthusiasm for life with all students since the day she started. She loves teaching children of all ages. Allie and her husband are excited to welcome a baby boy later this year. In her free time, Allie enjoys outdoor activities and staying active.

Stephanie has her degree in Early Childhood Education, a Montessori Teaching Diploma, and over 16 years of experience teaching children in a childcare setting. Her flexibility to teach all ages makes her a valuable asset to the HCS team. Stephanie is married with 2 children. In her spare time, she enjoys crocheting and spending time with her family.

Lynsay received her Associates’ Degree in Early Childhood Education from Hagerstown Community College. She joined our team in 2023 and comes to us with more than 11 years of classroom experience. Lynsay is married and has one child who currently attends Hagerstown Children’s School. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crocheting and being outside.

Hadley graduated from Boyd J. Michael Technical High School in 2024, where she participated in the Teachers Academy of Maryland. She began her journey with HCS in the fall of 2023 as a student intern, where she discovered a passion for the Montessori philosophy and helping children become independent, lifelong learners. Currently, Hadley is pursuing an associate degree in Early Childhood Education. In her free time, she enjoys crafting and baking treats.

Alieta holds a Child Development Associates Credential (CDA) and a Montessori Teaching Diploma and Montessori Assistance Certificate. She joined our team in 2002 after attending Washington County Technical High School for Early Childhood Education. Her gentle approach to teaching helps her connect with the students in her classroom. She enjoys outdoor activities and traveling with her husband.

Kristen has been a dedicated member of our teaching team since 2017. She loves the Montessori teaching methods, as a parent of 2 children that attended HCS, she has seen the benefits firsthand. She is originally from Long Island, NY but now resides in Hagerstown. Kristen recieved her Bachelor's Degree in Human Services from Mount St. Mary College, and holds a Montessori Teaching Diploma. She enjoys sharing years of experience in childcare and her love of learning with our youngest children in our Pre-Primary class.

Tanner has her Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering, and prior to joining our team worked as a Cement and Concrete Laboratory Inspector. Tanner joined our team in 2021 and appreciates working with our Pre-Primary groups. She is married and has 3 children, all of whom attended Hagerstown Children’s School. Tanner is very artistic and makes handmade jewelry. Fun fact about Tanner: she grew up on the Navajo Indian Reservation. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, learning about other cultures, and spending time with her husband and children.

Stephanie is the newest member of our team and is excited to share her passion for teaching and education with our youngest students in the Pre-Primary room. Prior to joining our team, she has worked as a professional photographer for the last 15 years. Stephanie is married and has 3 children. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, spending time with her family, and learning new things.

Andy grew up in Frederick County and graduated from Franklin County High School. He joined our team in 2023. Andy is a gifted artist and enjoys making music and art, singing, and studying film. Andy also loves to play volleyball. He loves working with children and watching their skills develop.

Kathryn joined HCS in the fall of 2023 as a floating assistant teacher, enjoying the opportunity to work across all classrooms and build relationships with students throughout the school. She is passionate about observing how young minds interpret the world and celebrating each child's individuality. Kathryn holds an associate degree in graphic design, a childcare certificate, and additional training as a licensed childcare provider. In her spare time, she enjoys crafting, spending time with friends and family, and cherishing moments with her son, of whom she is incredibly proud.

Shirley joins our HCS staff with over 20 years experience in the corporate field. Shirley has always enjoyed spending time with children which lead her to a "retirement" career with HCS. She has become a indispensable member of our team as she supports all the classrooms on a daily basis.
