Community Service & Conservation

Building a community early

Learning to be productive, compassionate, and conscientious citizens begins early. At Hagerstown Children’s School, we believe that involving children in community service and conservation is an important part of a complete education. Encouraging children to think about their surroundings and to go beyond themselves as they express empathy and compassion helps bring a community together. The projects are brought into the classroom by reading related materials, measuring, graphing, art expression, and social awareness. We encourage the whole family to get involved with the projects!

Every year we participate in several community service and conservation projects. In the past we have coordinated with organizations, such as The Ronald McDonald House, Food Resources, Children in Need, and the ASPCA. We have recycled phone books, aluminum cans, gently used clothing, and glass containers. We want to encourage children that acts of kindness can be as big as donating a car load of supplies to the ASPCA or a small as making book marks and giving them away in the public library.
