Volunteering

Volunteer

Unfortunately, due to Covid19 restrictions we are not able to have volunteers inside the building.

We love to see our parents and grandparents supporting our school and our students. We have several committees and we welcome you to share your knowledge with us by joining one of them and supporting our programs. If you are interested in any of these great committees, click the committee name to send us your contact information.

Board of Directors Member

Volunteers will attend monthly meetings and serve as committee chair or co-chair. Positions are available throughout the year.

Teacher Appreciation/Hospitality

The committee chair will organize teacher appreciation events and help coordinate volunteers for special events.Volunteers will be needed to plan and set up, provide baked goods and pick up items as needed.

Fundraising

Our volunteers will help with organizing the Scholastic Book Fair and Box Top for Education. We also participate with ink cartridge recycling, Spring Raffle and Day of Giving.

Community Service

HCS strives to make a positive impact on the world in which we live. Community Service events will be scheduled throughout the year to help teach our students how to be responsbile members of our community.

Marketing & Public Relations

Volunteers are needed to help research and implement marketing campaigns to expand our community standing. Volunteers will act as a representative of HCS at public meetings and events.

Facilities and Lease

Our goal is to always provide a well maintained and safe facility for all our students. Our volunteers will help with general maintenance, simple installations, and assembly of new equiptment.

Curriculum Support

Having parents or grandparents come into our classrooms to share personal experiences is always such a great addition to our curriculum. Each month we focus on different topics and welcome any class presentations, materials or photos to help give our students a first hand glimpse at them in action.

Classroom Volunteering

Our teachers encourage our parents to participate in the classroom when they can. Each classroom will have a volunteer calendar outside their room so that you can see how you can fit us in your schedule. In order to volunteer in the rooms each volunteer is required by the State of Maryland to attend one of our mandatory volunteer orientations and complete state and federal fingerprinting. Please see the office for information on these meetings.
