The kindergarten year is when a child integrates all the skills they have acquired throughout preschool and begins to blossom into self-confident students. It is the final step in the three-year cycle of the primary classroom and we embrace the Montessori theory of mixed age grouping, which allows the kindergarten students to mingle, interact, teach, and learn from not only their peers but younger students as well. Students also benefit from both small instructional groups with individualized attention and large group activities, where they can learn to be a part of a community.
Each student is treated as an individual, and their educational plan is designed to address their specific strengths and weaknesses. Emphasis is placed on actively participating in experiential hands on learning and applying knowledge to real life situations.
Our kindergarten curriculum is continually evaluated to ensure that the children graduating from our program are prepared to become successful students in the future.
All children must be five years old by September 1st of the year in which they will be attending. This coincides with the date requirement set by the Maryland State Department of Education.
